About WOWW

Opening windows for Panhandle students for 20 years.

Window on a Wider World connects Texas Panhandle schools to the arts, science, and culture that make learning come alive.

Our Story

It started with a building, and a belief.

In 2006, as the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts rose in downtown Amarillo, a group of community leaders saw a bigger opportunity. The venue would be world class. The question was how to open it, and everything like it, to students across the whole Panhandle. They raised the funds to build something lasting: a program that would carry the arts, science, and culture to students wherever they learn, on field trips and inside their own classrooms.

Modeled on proven arts-integration programs, WOWW took shape. Window on a Wider World is the bridge that makes those experiences reachable and affordable for every student, in every district across the Panhandle. Twenty years later, that bridge connects 39 districts to more than 60 partner organizations and 145 curriculum-aligned experiences.
